Harvest

Here you learn how to record downed animals, fill in weights, and keep track of who received meat.

What is the harvest log?

The harvest log is the team's list of downed animals. For each animal you can save species, sex and age, date, and three weights: live weight, dressed weight, and packaged weight. All weights are optional. On each animal you can then record how the meat was shared.

Animals from a hunt appear automatically

When a live hunt ends, every animal marked as downed on the map is added to the list automatically. They keep a link back to the hunt, so you recognise them. You can also add animals by hand, for example animals downed without starting a hunt in the app.

View the list

  1. Tap Harvest on the home screen
  2. Animals are grouped by month with the most recent month on top
  3. Each row shows species, sex, who downed the animal, date, and one weight

Animals that come from a hunt are marked From hunt. If meat has been shared, the amount is shown.

Add an animal

Any member can add animals:

  1. Tap New harvest
  2. Under Shooter your own name is already filled in. Change it only if somebody else downed the animal
  3. Choose a species, or type your own if it is not in the list
  4. Choose sex and age if you want
  5. Choose the date
  6. Fill in the weights you have (live, dressed, packaged) in kilograms
  7. Tap Save

Record on somebody else's behalf

Sometimes you are not the one who downed the animal. Perhaps the shooter was at a stand without a phone, perhaps it was a guest hunter who is not in the team. Then you simply change the shooter when you add the animal.

A shooter can be:

  • a member of the team
  • a contact (for example a guest hunter or a landowner you have already saved)
  • someone else you type in by hand

Any member may add animals, including on somebody else's behalf. The name is saved on the animal, so it stays there even if the contact is removed from the contact list or the member leaves the team.

If an animal ended up on the wrong person, for example one that came in automatically from a hunt, open the animal and change the shooter under Edit. The hunt and the map are not affected.

Photo of the animal

You can add a photo of the felled animal. The photo is shown at the top of the animal's page and as a small picture in the list.

If you felled the animal during a hunt and took a photo when you marked it on the map, that photo is shown automatically. You do not need to upload it again. If you want to change or remove that particular photo, do it in the hunt log, not here.

To add your own photo:

  1. Open the animal
  2. Tap the photo box at the top
  3. Take a photo or choose one from your photo library

You can also add the photo right away when adding a new animal. Your own photo can be changed or removed at any time. Administrators, the person who added the animal and the shooter can change the photo.

Where the animal was felled

Each animal can have a location. Animals that come in automatically from a hunt get the location from the map marker. For animals you add by hand, you choose the location yourself: search for a place name, use your position or point out the spot on the map.

The location is shown on the animal's page. Tap it to open the team map with a pin at the spot.

Weights

On the animal's page you see the three weights.

Requires administrator role or being the shooter

Weights can be edited by administrators (secretary and team lead), by the person who entered the animal, and by the shooter when the shooter is a member. Tap Edit on the animal's page to fill in or change the weights. A guest shooter has no account and therefore cannot change anything themselves.

Meat distribution

The animal's page has a Meat distribution list. There you record who received meat and how many kilograms.

A recipient can be:

  • a member of the team
  • a contact (for example a dog handler, neighbour, or landowner)
  • someone else you type in by hand

Requires administrator role

Only the secretary and team lead can add or remove meat distribution.

To add a recipient:

  1. Open the animal
  2. Tap Add recipient
  3. Choose whether the recipient is a member, a contact, or someone else
  4. Enter the number of kilograms
  5. Tap Add

Example

The team downs a moose. The shooter is the guest hunter Sven, who does not have the app. The hunt leader adds the moose and types Sven in as the shooter. The secretary enters a dressed weight of 150 kg and a packaged weight of 95 kg. Then the meat is shared: Erik 45 kg, Bo 20 kg, and the neighbour Sven 10 kg. It is all recorded under Meat distribution.

Statistics

Weights and meat distribution are gathered on the Statistics page. There you see packaged weight per month, weight per species and per shooter, and a list of who received the most meat during the season. Animals downed by guest hunters, contacts, or former members are gathered under Guests.
